Additions to Improve your Interior Design

When you purchase a hard wood floor, you have many details to contemplate:

  • Choosing the right colour for the lightness of the room
  • Making sure it suits any existing furniture
  • Ensuring it is high-quality and will stand the test of time

Once all is considered, a hard wood floor has the potential to become a conversation starter and even the focal point of your home. However, because hard wood floors are popular in modern houses as families are opting for more rustic designs overall, you might want to consider going the extra mile for the ultimate, distinctive interior design.
Fiddes Hard Wax Oil

As London’s leading distributer and manufacturer of wood flooring and wood floor products, Wood Floors Online offer a wide range of FiddesHard Wax Oil. Fiddes is a well-known and trusted industry brand, designed to improve the look of your hard wood floor.

Available in thirteen different colours including Clear Satin, Medium Oak and Walnut, it is a blend of natural oils and waxes, providing resistance and durability to wood products.

  • Quickly dries in 4-6 hours
  • Water repellent
  • Tread-fast finish that will not peel
  •  Leaves wood floors looking very natural with an impressive flat matt finish

In addition to improving the look of your floor, it will maintain it for the future and highlight your own caring, knowledgeable and capable nature.

Flooring Underlay

Underlays can help improve the look and atmosphere of your household. Quick and easy to install, they are a simple but effective way of adding to the quality of your flooring.

  • Protects against moisture when used with vapour stop tape
  • Offers ideal acoustics underfoot
  •  Perfect for domestic installations
  •  Provides sub-floor masking for minor surface level imperfections

Technics 5 Wood flooring underlay, Acoustic, is a great product to prevent noisy wood or laminate flooring from distracting guests and annoying your family when someone has to visit the kitchen late in the evening, perhaps when everyone else is asleep.

Creaks and squeaks may seem like a small inconvenience, but have the power to upset the mood of a room - if you have arranged your furniture and colour scheme to have a calming, relaxing effect, unpredictable noises will not be welcome.

Quality additions can have a huge impact

Chances are, investing in a hard wax finish and using an underlay that masks surface level imperfections, will impress family and envious guests for years to come.

Hardwood flooring is a good investment (they can increase the price of your property), so it is important to care for them as a design feature of your household and style.

If you are still unsure about how to present your floor, just ask yourself, “What do I want my floor to say about me?”

Wood Flooring Trends

At Wood Floors Online, we supply a wide spec of wood types in different shades, styles, and shapes. Coming to a final decision can be confusing when presented with such a range of options. This guide discusses the trends in wood flooring to help aid you in choosing the right kind. Not only for the style conscious but also a general guide to choosing something you’ll love. Installing a wooden floor is a long term commitment. Due to this, it’s important for you to spare a good amount of thought on the overall design of your home. Here are some of tips and pointers.

Dark vs. Light
  • Light wood may be a better option when a room is already dark or you want to brighten the overall appearance.
  •  Generally, lighter floors create a more open and airy feeling. However, well-chosen dark floor in the right space won’t inhibit the feeling of space.

  • Dark on dark is not usually an approach. If you have dark work surfaces or cupboards, it may be best to steer away from having a dark wood floor as well unless the room has excessive natural light. If you aren’t trying to create an overall dark feeling, avoid this.

  •  Light on light is more manageable and a more common approach. This may give a cottage-like feel depending on where you are placing the wooden floors. If you have overhead beams in your home matching the wood flooring to these may create unity.

Wide Plank Flooring, Parquet or 3-Strip

  • Currently, wide plank is considered the trendiest wood style with its popularity increasing in 2012, particularly in the United States. The style is very different to the traditional wood styles providing something a little bit different.
  • Popular in the 1970s and 1989s, parquet flooring is a more traditional wood style currently returning as fashionable. This style can create a comforting feel with its inter-woven patterns.
